Privacy

Family stories should belong to the family.

This page explains how HoldDear thinks about privacy for private family archives. It is not a substitute for a formal privacy policy if your jurisdiction requires one — contact support@getholddear.com with questions.

Private by design

HoldDear is invite-only. Stories live in membership-gated family spaces. There is no public social feed, public profile, or family discovery directory.

Story visibility

Stories can be visible to the family or private to the person who recorded them. Private stories are not visible to other members — including owners and admins.

Sharing within the family

“Share” on HoldDear means inviting someone into your private family archive, or watching stories together inside that archive. Public story share links are not available today.

Media storage

Video is stored in private object storage and served through authenticated, short-lived URLs — not a public bucket.

Processors we use

Billing and retention

Payment problems include a grace period. Canceling through Stripe does not instantly erase your archive. Stories are removed only when an authorized person archives or permanently deletes them.
